Oct 2025

October 20, 2025

Hi friends! I hope you’re all doing well!

I can’t believe it’s already October 20th! It’s been a busy few weeks for me… I’ve been sewing a lot!

For so many years, I’ve always wanted to be able to sew my own clothes. My mom was a sewist and I still remember the first Halloween costume she made for me… it was Snow White and I was obsessed with the red cape. Over the years, I learned how to sew a few simple home decor items but was very intimidated by clothing patterns. Though, I would still buy clothing patterns and “save it for later.”

I feel like I’ve been stuck as a beginner for 15 years, haha! I start, and then I don’t practice for a few months or years, and then I have to start again. I’ve thought about learning on my own, but I don’t fully trust myself and I second guess everything that I do. Which means I’m the kind of person that needs to learn from a professional in a class…. But I also have terrible social anxiety and in-person workshops make me want to vomit…

Anyway, I decided to sign up for a class in the city and guess what… I didn’t vomit, yay!

The pants that I’m making aren’t done just yet (I have to make a few more adjustments). I followed the pattern but wasn’t happy with the fit so I’m learning how to adjust based on a pair of wide leg pants that I already own. Learning so much! I’ve also become a bit obsessed with buttons and I’ve been changing them out on a lot of my shirts… forget buying new clothes, just replace the buttons haha! Feels like a whole new piece of clothing! I’ll share before and after photos in the next newsletter. ☺️

In addition to sewing pants and buttons, I sewed a few journals!

They’re available in the shop now along with other new items…

Suncatcher window stickers are back!

I have other new and restocked items arriving soon (hopefully by the end of this month). I currently have my patches on sale because I want to make room for new ones and I’m planning to make future patches a bit larger.

⚘ October Snail Mail Sketches ⚘

This month’s snail mail is inspired by sewing, of course. The postcard will be a tailor shop and the sticker will be a sewing bird. I used a random name picker and Zuki will be the featured pet (from my Patreon Pet Easter Egg)  in this month’s postcard. 💛

Below is the postcard sketch and finished sticker drawing…

(If you’re interested in this month’s snail mail, I’ll send them out to any new patrons that sign up for the $10 tier between now and the end of the month. Please note, I will mail October snail mail during the first week of November.)

Sewing Bird is also available as a greeting card in the shop…

(Halloween Decorations Postcard, Pumpkin Ghost Sticker, Autumn Bookmark)

That’s all for now, I hope you have a great new week! Also, if you live in New York and are able to, please don’t forget to vote! Zohran Mamdani has my vote! 💜✨
