Hi friends! I hope you’re all doing well!
This newsletter is going out late, but there are a lot of exciting things that I’ve wanted to share with you, including a few places that I got to visit, and a few new illustration updates.
A few weeks ago, I visited the Tove Jansson and Moomin exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library! I have always loved her work and it was so inspiring to see her illustrations and old book covers in person.
My partner and I also visited Van Gogh’s Flowers exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden…
At the gift shop, I bought a tote, lenticular postcard, and two bars of soap…
We also took a train from Grand Central and stopped by Damselfly Flowers where I picked up a lavender sachet, two small dishes, and a wildflower seed greeting card (by Marissa Kay Apothecary).
Fun fact! There is a dark rectangular patch on the Grand Central ceiling. It was left uncleaned to show the decades of grime before the 1990s restoration project.
⚘ Zine Collaboration ⚘
I’m currently working on a zine collab with my friend, Elica. The zine will be called “The Grands” (based on a previously-published short piece) and it’s “about connection, beyond language and between generations." You can check out more of her writing at elicawrites.com. 💛
I recently finished my first page of illustrations…
⚘ August Snail Mail Sketches ⚘
This month’s snail mail will be a Bakery Boat postcard with a Baker Frog sticker.
Here are the sketches and finished sticker drawing. I’m planning to print the Baker Frog as a greeting card soon!
(If you’re interested in this month’s snail mail, I’ll send them out to any new patrons that sign up for the $10 tier between now and the end of the month. Please note, I will mail August snail mail during the first week of September.)
⚘ In Transit ⚘
July snail mail was sent out last week!
(Lighthouse Garden Postcard, Farmers Market Cat Sticker)
That’s all for now, I hope you have a great day/night!
💛 Justine
